Come To The Water

In the sprinkling rite on Sundays in Easter time you see and feel the water that recalls your baptism.
 
The rite used to be accompanied by an antiphon beginning Vidi aquam, or “I saw the water,” referring to Ezekiel’s vision of life-giving water flowing from the side of the Temple.
 
John’s gospel associates those words with the water flowing from Christ’s side on the cross. As Jesus foresaw, the Temple (in Jerusalem) would be destroyed, while the temple of his body would rise in three days’ time.
 

All this water reminds you that the significance of your baptism can never be overemphasized. Your entire life in Christ flows from it.
