Priorities! Priorities! My friends tell me that I am a blue ribbon, world class worrier! As this worrier, I try my best to serve God and the world every day. When discussing this fact of a first class worrier, a friend of mine reminded me of this Arab proverb: “Trust in God, but tie up your camel!” I know God will take care of me and always has. And I suspect that I have to be a good steward of my resources and decisions. So I pray and I fret about the fine print in all life’s events! I believe God is in details – and so are the demons if I am not careful! Does trusting God really mean throwing caution to the wind and acting like there is no tomorrow? In our Gospel, we are told that devil-may-care abandon is actually not of divine origin. At the same time, Jesus says focusing all our energy on chasing after our daily bread leads us to forget that it is also given to us, not just earned. At the bottom line we do have to choose between God and mammon. It may come to this – unting the camel and letting go! In your prayer today – how many camels do you have on a leash that prevent you from trusting God?
