Woodlands Owners Bestow In-Kind Gift on Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown We recently reached out to our friends in the healthcare community for help purchasing an expensive piece of physical therapy equipment. We contacted many folks. But our longtime friends and business associates Kathy Prasad, owner of The Woodlands, LLC, and her son, Frank Antalocy, the company’s chief financial officer, weren’t content to just make a donation. Surrounding Sister Kathleen Minchin, who’s recovering from knee replacement surgery and using the NuStep Cross Trainer, are, from left, Patty Hackett, director of nursing for Motherhouse healthcare, Sally Demidovich, Woodlands administrator, Frank Antalocy, Woodlands CFO, Sister Mary McCormick, finance director for the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown, and Kathy Prasad, owner of The Woodlands, LLC. “When I got the phone call from Kathy Prasad, I was delighted that she and Frank were responding to our request for a contribution toward a new piece of equipment. I was ecstatic when Kathy clarified that they planned to buy the equipment for us, not just make a contribution.” says Sister Mary McCormick, director of finance for the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown. “We are very grateful. The NuStep bike will not only help our sisters who have had recent orthopedic surgery, but all our sisters maintain good health for ministry.” The Woodlands operates AustinWoods, Austintown, and HamptonWoods and Woodlands Assisted Living in New Springfield. “Many of the Sisters from the Motherhouse have come to AustinWoods for inpatient rehab and outpatient therapy following surgery. Several of the Sisters used the NuStep during their rehab stay at AustinWoods and decided to seek donations to purchase one for the Motherhouse,” Prasad observes. The piece of equipment is a NuStep T5xr Recumbent Cross Trainer, which retails, with shipping and other fees, at approximately $6,500. “We wanted to provide the Sisters with this equipment to show our appreciation for their support of AustinWoods and its community-outreach programs all these years,” she continues. AustinWoods began its relationship with the Ursuline Sisters in 1992, when AustinWoods began offering a five-day-a-week aquatic arthritis program at the Motherhouse pool, the first of its kind in the area, Prasad notes. “We have maintained that schedule for the past 21 years,” she adds. “We are in discussion with the Sisters on offering other affordable aquatics programs at the Motherhouse pool.” “Over the years, we at the Motherhouse have greatly appreciated our working relationship with AustinWoods and Kathy Prasad,” says Sister Nancy Dawson, General Superior. “The aquatic therapy program they offer at our pool has benefitted so many people.”
