St. Patrick Day Prayer

The very mention of St. Patrick stirs enthusiasm — and probably more celebration than the good saint himself would endorse.

Beyond parades and green beer is a prayer attributed to him. It has many versions, but all focus upon the love and protection of the Trinity.

Here are a few lines to pray today:
I arise today through God’s strength to pilot me
God’s might to uphold me
God’s wisdom to guide me . . .
Christ with me, Christ before me
Christ behind me, Christ within me
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me
Christ in every eye that sees me
Christ in every ear that hears me.
